WebAug 9, 2024 · I want to change the computer name. I used hostctl , then edited /etc/hosts. What I want to do is change old-name-desktop to new-name-desktop; what I get is oldname@aranea-desktop as a prompt and on the top of the page. If I type in hostname-ctl it is displayed the way I want it. Is there any way I can purge oldname completely? Thanks!
