The original image is 45MB so I had to reduce it to 500KB. Astro Modified Canon 70D Light: 44 * 75" (1.8 Hours) Dark: 25 Bias: 100 Flat: 45 Stacking and Post-Processing by APP & Photoshop. Looks great! WebSep 13, 2024 · This is also a cloud of gas excited by a young cluster of stars (called NGC 6530, which has about 4,000 stars in it). It looks bigger and more detailed than the Trifid because, well, it is. They’re both roughly 5,000 light years away, though the exact distances are difficult to measure, so the Lagoon is physically bigger than the Trifid.

WebJul 27, 2009 · The Lagoon and trifid are a pair of beautiful bright nebulae in Sagittarius. Both lie about 5000 light years away. And are in the star filled richness of our own MilkyWay galaxy. I captured this at the end of my imaging session at our clubs dark site ( Bortle 4). This was only 20 60sec subs! Hope to add more data next week, weather permitting.
