Webabsolutely gorgeous. 100% a NC bucket list trail. it’s a really great hike that’s not too hard. the only strenuous part is the last mile up the max patch summit. not bad at all and absolutely worth it. very well maintained trail and anyone can do it. it’s just long and a low incline. it gets muddy after the sun comes up WebI love Max Patch! Fun story: last time I was there was on a road trip, and on the way down from the mountain my boyfriend and I came across a very sweet stray hound who was very skinny, hungry and thirsty. No collar, no microchip either, we later found. We called a ton of local shelters but no one could take him for various reasons, or were closed.
